Affholder Construction is looking to add an experienced Tunnel Superintendent to our Tunnel construction team in O'Fallon, MO. The Underground Tunnel Superintendent supervises and facilitates assigned construction phases of projects by directly managing multiple crews including subcontractors while providing oversight for production, safety, quality and training, ensuring that project goals are met.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, diagram and lay-out work, updating the Project Manager on progress and delays.
• Ensures all construction follows design specifications, is completed on schedule, and is built to quality standards.
• Examine / inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
• Inspect work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and take any corrective action needed.
• Identify safety hazards and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Have a working knowledge of scheduling, material control, unit man-hour performance, estimating fundamentals and job cost management systems.
• Enforce company safety regulations, SOPs and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of Tunnel Construction experience in a supervisory role.
• Must be able to enter and remain in a tunnel regularly while work is being done.
• Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for the members of crew.
• Demonstrated successful experience in full cycle of Underground construction, shaft excavation, blast-and-shoot, and Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
