Affholder Construction is one of the fastest growing tunneling contractors in the country. We are looking for a Tunnel Estimator to join our growing team in O’Fallon, MO. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating heavy civil or underground construction projects. Affholder Construction provides the opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in the industry.
Job Responsibilities:
- Purchasing bid documents.
- Maintain database of estimates.
- Develop take-offs and cost estimates from the engineering drawings
- Technical writing for RFQ/RFP.
- Prepare estimate bid schedule.
- Review bid packages and quotes.
- Review labor rates to ensure conformance to the contract specifications.
- Perform risk analysis.
- Participate in pre bid analysis and bid close out.
- Participate in post bid analysis.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management strongly preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in performing cost estimates; reviewing contractor’s price and cost proposals for major engineering and construction projects.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, with preference for Microsoft Office and Heavy Bid (HCSS) is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 year experience in utility/heavy construction, experience in tunneling construction is a plus.
- Up to 25% travel as needed.
